Public Relations: Press Release

One of the things that a Public Relations department might be called upon to do is a press release. This is a press release that I wrote in 2009 for a real product that was released by Disney Parks and Verizon Wireless. This press release was written as an assignment for one of my Ashford University classes and is not the actual press release for the product.

VERIZON WIRELESS DEBUT’S DISNEY PARK’S MOBILE MAGIC CELL PHONE APPLICATION
Orlando, Fl: Nov 11, 2009

                Verizon Wireless customers who are traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or the Disneyland Resort in California may now purchase the new Disney Parks Mobile Magic cell phone application. This new application, available for purchase for $9.99 for a 180 day period, may be downloaded directly on select model phones. The application provides customized, GPS-enabled features to theme park guests, providing them with up-to-the-minute attraction wait time information, Disney’s FastPass return times, Disney character Meet and Greet locations, entertainment show times and more.

                Starting today Verizon Wireless customers may download and begin to use the Mobile Magic application for their Disney Parks vacation. Utilizing GPS technology, the application will pinpoint the user’s location within the Disney theme parks and provide information about nearby attractions, entertainment and character greeting locations. No longer will guests need to go in search of a tip board or travel across the theme park to their favorite Fantasyland attraction only to find out there is a long wait.

Disney Parks Mobile Magic is designed to help theme park guests get the most out of their vacation time. With Mobile Magic users can access the most up to date wait time information for all of the attractions inside the theme parks. To provide even more flexibility, guests may also see the return times available for attractions that utilize Disney’s FastPass system. The application is customizable and can users attractions that are nearest to them, or the attractions may be browsed by the themed lands within the different theme parks.

For those guests who love to come face to face with beloved Disney characters, Mobile Magic allows families to see which characters will be appearing and where and when they may be met. For those with a favorite character, a search function allows families to find their favorite characters and learn where the best place to see them is. The application also includes full entertainment schedules from stage shows to parades, as well as dining information.

Children will love the game demonstrations included with the Mobile Magic application, providing entertainment perfect for those times when waiting in line. With bright and vivid graphics and an easily navigated interface, children will delight in helping to plan their family’s day in the Disney Parks.
